When you clock on the ”New Drive“ button in the Drive Manager you will get a drive configuration window like the one shown at the right. There are a few fields which you must configure to make a connection.

Drive Type

ExpanDrive currently supports connections to SFTP servers using SSH, or FTP/FTPS. This lets you select which type of connection this drive will be.

Server:

Enter the address of the server you’d like to connect to here. The address can be given either by name (server.yourdomain.com) or by IP address (192.168.1.1).

Username:

Enter the username for the account that you would like to connect to on the remote server. This might be different than the username on the local computer.

Password:

The password is needed to log into the remote computer. If you do not enter a password, then you will be prompted for a password each time you connect to the remote server. Passwords a stored securely in the OS X system Keychain.

Drive Name:

The Drive Name is a nickname for this particular connection. The Drive Name will be displayed in the Drive Manager as a label for this drive. Also, when connected, the remote server will be mounted as a directory in /Volumes/ with the name given in this field. If no Drive Name is entered, then the Server will be used as the drive name.

Remote Path:

The remote path is the directory on the remote server that will mount when it connects. If this field is left blank, then ExpanDrive will load the home directory of the user it is connect as.

Port:

This is the port that ExpanDrive will attempt to connect to on the remote server. The vast majority of SFTP servers use port 22 while FTP servers use port 21.
